The L-39 Albatros was designed to replace the first military jet-trainer developed in Czechoslovakia called Aero L-29 Delfín. L-39 Albatros is an all-metal frame, low-set aircraft with the tandem twin-seat arrangement. The airplane is aimed to serve as a training platform for the basic and intermediate piloting-courses.
The plane, located in Brno with the registration number OK-DDR, was produced in May 1982. On 10th, 11th and 17th May the testing flights secured by the factory-pilot-crew Vohánka-Křemen-Šnýdr-Valehrach took place and the aircraft entered to service.
On 22nd October 1982, the aircraft was taken over by the air-force of the national people’s army authorities of the German Democratic Republic. In November the same year, the airplane started its 8 years-lasting career under a tactic number 178. It served as a flight-training jet for the military pilots of the flying school in Bautzen airport. The last flights took place on the same spot in September 1990 and after the Luftwaffe took control, the L-39 stopped flying and was permanently stored in a hangar.
Afterwards, L-39 was sold by the governmental organisation for sale named VEBEG GmbH. The company who bought the jet carried out the demilitarisation which was followed by 14 years-long trading travels around several companies and states, while the aircraft was still kept on the ground. In April 2004 the aircraft was put into operation again in the Netherlands. After completing several testing flights, the aircraft was flown to Estonia to undertake an overhaul and with a registration mark ES-TLA, it flew back to Luxembourg and Estonia where it served as an entertaining plane for the public. During 2006 the registration mark was changed to a Russian version RA-3424K and in 2013 to Luxembourgish LX-ROB.
In spring 2020 the L-39 started its service in the purposes of the airport Brno-Tuřany. The aircraft was painted and signed the same as during its service for the German Democratic Republic, however, the license plate was changed to the Czech one mentioned at the beginning - OK-DDR.

Best experience ever! I got this flight as a birthday present from family and friends, and it was a blast. The team is super professional, the L39 Albatros jet is a fast and agile beast and I could even fly it myself. Highly recommended!

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Kamilla was great at organising and responding quickly to many requests.
The team on the day were professional, courteous and very knowledgeable . All of this made the trip in the jet an absolutely amazing experience. The video was edited to a high standard and delivered on time.
Katarzyna:
The L-39 flight was a birthday present for my husband — and it was amazing!:) Excellent communication with the company and very friendly staff. Kamila helped us organize everything practically the day before the flight (since we weren’t sure about the weather until the very end). My husband was thrilled — especially because the pilot let him take the controls for a while:).
Our warm regards to the entire Czech-jet team! If the budget allows, we’ll definitely see each other again!

The flight experience was truly a childhood dream come true for me. I feel very lucky that Tony the pilot showed me what this amazing fighter jet can do up in the sky, I loved the manuvers and speed so so much. The pilot has very strong communication skills, such a nice man, he and the ground crew were highly professional and provided outstanding experience, making me feel safe and happy. The joy and excitement I felt during the flight still remain with me to this day. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience that I will always treasure. Big thank you for the team!!

On the 14th of June I've done a 30 minute flight with Czech-jet on their L-39 Albatros. From the first contact & booking to flying on the day itself, it's been a pleasure to work with and be with their team at the airport. With several aerobatic maneuveres & the pilot checking troughout if everything is OK i can say this flight will be a memory for life. I might even return for some of the other packages.
Dan:
Amazing experience. But its better not to eat few hours before your flight

I was actually visiting Vienna, but since Brno is a short train ride away, I bought a railjet tickets and booked a 30min flight. Very easy to book and coordinate. Kamila stayed in contact during the booking process and provided updates as the flight date approached. Not sure how to explain, but it was a thrilling ride, with inverted flight, Vertical Stalls, barrel rolls, loops, Immelmann turns, etc. Loved every minute of the flight. The ground staff is great as well. The whole event was perfect.

From the morning, I was excited. We arrived at the airport and adrenalin increased. The first Jet Fighter flew in front of us and we saw how Albatros L-39 makes twists (turns, loopings and rollings) at 300 kilometers per hour! Believe me, it will amaze you! Before the flight, you will learn how to use a catapult and it will not let you calm :)
Here it comes.. I climbed into the cockpit, strapped me in, put on a helmet, repeated instructions and suddenly we are taking off. The start can not be compared with starting the Ferrari or Caterham, it is about 20 times stronger.
I would like to describe you the beauty from the aircraft and the feelings in turns and loopings, but it is impossible. You have to try it!
For me it was the perfect experience of a lifetime. For a moment you will feel like a pilot from Top Gun. I recommend to buy a DVD from GO PRO which is fixed in the cockpit.
